Rocky Mountain Education is excited to offer a 6 Week Phlebotomy Course and 2 Day IV Placement Training Class. Join us and learn from the professionals that draw blood every day! Our new online phlebotomy school is an inexpensive and condensed curriculum designed to educate future or existing health care professionals. Our classes are located in Idaho Falls, ID.
This fun and exciting 6 week class helps medical professionals or those entering into medical professions get a head start in phlebotomy. The class is designed to teach proper technique and help inexperienced health care professionals get over the fear of drawing blood. The class course work is online with once a week in-person clinical sessions where you will gain confidence through demonstrations and hands on experience at an actual laboratory.
Patients always remember a bad blood draw and anyone can “poke” a patient. Through the skills taught in this class phlebotomy skills will transition to a more positive experience for patients!
Tuition Fee: $300
*This is NOT an accredited National Level Certification. It is a Phlebotomy Skill Completion Course. Our Proprietary School is registered through the Idaho State Board of Education.
Drawing blood and placing an IV are very different! Learning the skill of phlebotomy first is very helpful. In this 2 day class we will teach you the very basics of placing an IV properly. Proper IV placement will include successfully inserting an IV catheter into a vein, taping it down, and flushing it with a normal saline.
Tuition Fee: $200
*This is NOT a training on how to run an IV or push fluids or medications. You will NOT be a Certified IV Technician at the end of the class. This will be Certification of Completion, just like the our Phlebotomy Course.
*Phlebotomy Course Completion or experience required to take the IV Class.
As classes open up for registration this website will be updated. Each link has a limit of 18 students for Phlebotomy and 10 students for IV Training. Registration is done on a first come first serve basis. When the class is full the link will notify you that the class is full and you will not be able to register. Come back to this page and try a different one. We hold courses throughout the entire year.

For IV Training: To pass the course you must perform a successful unassisted IV placement in front of instructors.
When is Tuition Due?
Both Classes: THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS
We highly recommend paying BEFORE coming to class if you can. That will make it possible for us to get started sooner the first day of class and not spend a lot of time taking payments. You may call Express Lab and pay with a card over the phone. You may also go into our facility and pay in person at the front desk with cash, check or card. Please bring a receipt to class as proof of payment.
Phone number to call to pay: 208-529-8330 (Ask for the front desk).
REMINDER: Tuition is $300 for Phlebotomy and $200 for IV Training
Where is the Class Located?
The class will be held in our MAIN IDAHO FALLS location. It is NOT the main building for Express Lab or Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center. Look for the number 3908 on the outside of the door. (See the picture). When you enter the door from the outside, the classroom will be immediately to your right in the ‘glass walled’ classroom.
The address to Express Lab is:
3910 Washington Parkway
Idaho Falls, ID 83404
What Should I Bring to Class?
First day- Tuition. You’re welcome and encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil to take notes. You may also want to bring a laptop to access your text while in class. All the materials and supplies for blood draws/IVs are provided AND LEFT in the classroom. Bring a water bottle and snacks if you need (especially if you are queasy or faint around blood, or needles). We will have breaks where you can get food out.
What Should I Wear to Class?
Most medical classes require scrubs, but we do NOT. You are more than welcome to wear scrubs if you have them or want to. Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes. If you are not wearing scrubs make sure whatever shirt you wear is either short sleeved or loose enough to roll up easily for vein access. Temperature ranges in the classroom so bring a sweater or sweatshirt if you get cold. Warm arms and hands are easier to find veins in! If you have long hair have it pulled back and out of your face so that it doesn’t get in the way of your view when drawing blood.
How Long is the Class?
For Phlebotomy: The entire course is 6 weeks long. Each class is once a week and will last from 6-9pm. Sometimes we may get out earlier, but leave your schedule open until 9 since once we start drawing blood you’ll want all the time you can get to practice. You are allowed to miss ONLY 1 CLASS in the course and still take the final exam. We recommend not missing if at all possible.
For IV Training: This is a two day course. You must attend both classes entirely to pass. The classes are about 3 hours long each unless otherwise specified in registration.
The students in Rocky Mountain Education Classes are looking to enhance their phlebotomy skills. About 50% of our students are currently employed and want to improve their skills while the remaining 50% are typically pursuing their education as a full-time student.
It is estimated that nearly 87% of the students that begin the class are able to successfully finish the curriculum. It is also estimated that over 75% of the students of our Express Lab phlebotomy school significantly improve their employment or employ-ability.
